Buena Vista Colorado or BV as the locals call it is one of the best places to be in the summer! The Collegiate Peaks tower over you in the valley of Buena Vista filled with so many activities for every age group.  This is a must visit for family adventure!

5-7 days is ideal but it is not the easiest to get to so you may want to stay for a week minimum 

Where to stay in or near Buena Vista Colorado:

Recommendation: Mount Princeton Hot Springs & Resort – offers cabins or lodge rooms plus you can use the hot springs   

Best Western Plus Vista Inn – great hotel with pool, hot tub and free breakfast 

Pinon Court Cabins – small but eclectic cabins with kitchens. Close to a park and playground for the kids. 

There are lots of cabins available during the summer on VRBO or Vacation Home Rentals

 

Top things to do & travel tips for your family vacation to Buena Vista Colorado:

Hot Springs – check out the Mount Princeton Hot Springs. Soak in one of the pools, ride the 300ft waterslide or find a warm spot in the river. 

Rafting the Arkansas River – check out The Adventure Company 

Hiking in Buena Vista with kids

  • There are municipal trails just across the Arkansas River (at the foot of Main Street). You can hike anywhere from short to long with great views. Make sure to stop at K’s for an after-hike ice cream cone.
  • The Twin Lakes area has historic buildings and it is an easy hike to Interlaken’s old buildings.

Mountain Biking- stop in at Trail Head Bike Rentals and explore with two wheels. There is mountain bike trails in the hills right behind Buena Vista.

Recommended: Saratoga Resort & Spa – great hot spring pools and a perfect place to getaway from everything. Very romantic location.

Hotel Wolf – located right on Main Street, lots of character and charm. Great restaurant on-site. 

Silver Moon Motel – very clean, great rates and some rooms have kitchens. 

The Lodge & Spa at Brush Creek Ranch – for a luxury guest ranch experience.

 

Things to do:

Hobo Hot Pool – Free hot spring pool open 24/7. There are even changing rooms.  

Saratoga Hot Springs & Pool– visit the teepee covered pools, each are different temperatures and sizes. And take advantage of the spa while you are there. 

Blue ribbon trout fishing – stop by Hack’s Tackle for a great guide or just a scenic float.
